Version 3.10 (04-14-93)
*** The Biggy ***
The Graphs option in the door is history! It was causing too much
trouble internally, and as far as I can tell, no one was using it.
Therefore, I nuked it! You can still use DMGraph to create bulletins
for displaying on the BBS, but users can't create their own graphs
while on-line.
*****************
There is now a file available on my BBS entitled DMUT-xxx.ZIP. This
is a set of utilities for use with DoorMan. For now, it includes
utilities to manage the .LOG and .DAT files. ie. purge all data
over 30 days old, purge all data for non-existant doors, etc... The
collection will continue to grow as needed. These are FREE!
Added Ability to pass the locked baud rate to a door instead of the
connect rate. This will make some doors work that wouldn't before!
Some doors (for instance Operation Overkill) will absolutely freak
out if you pass a baud rate of 14,400 or 16,800. This will allow
you to pass 19,200 (or whatever the port is locked at) instead.
Upgraders: If you are upgrading from 3.00, you will need
to go into DoorEdit - Global Defaults - Node
Information and set the locked rate for each
node *BEFORE* you set the Use DTE flag for
any of your doors!
Added DMANRTM.EXE. This is a "Run Time Module" used specifically for
DoorMan. It is the equivilant of BRUN4?.EXE for some Quick Basic.
To see why, look at the DMANRTM.DOC file.
Added a Test Door command to the Door menu in DoorEdit. When you
select this command, DoorEdit will create the appropriate caller info
file in the appropriate directory, create the bat file for that door,
then shell out and execute the door. Will at least let you see if
the door will run in local mode. (USF!)
Added the same Test Door command to the Door Definition screen (USF!)
Added the ability for DoorMan to update you SysOp/Activity log as a
user enters and exits doors. There are two predefined formats for
the log entry. Specifically, Wildcat and Renegade. If you run one
of these BBS programs, and choose the appropriate style, then the
entry DoorMan puts in your log will look just like the entry your
BBS software puts there when a door is executed. If you don't run
one of these programs, or you don't like the formats, then there
is Custom! This lets you define what the log entries will look
like! (USF!)
Upgraders: If upgrading from 3.00, you will need to go
into DoorEdit - Global Defauls - Node Info
and set the log file name and location for
each node *BEFORE* you set the sysop log
feature to yes!
Changed "Inactivity Time Out" from 2 minutes to 4 minutes. (USF!)
Changed the function key F6 in the door from Chat to DoorEdit. The
chat mode wasn't being used very much, and the ability to run DoorEdit
from within the door was more desirable. (USF!)
Fixed the bug causing DoorMan to reset the users time back to what they
originally had when they entered the door when using Wildcat 3.x.
Fixed the bug causing DMGraph to bomb out with an error when attempting
to create a bulletin using Wildcat color codes.
Fixed the bug causing DoorEdit to bomb out if you attempted to backsapce
passed the first character in the first line of the Run Command Editor.
Same as above except for hitting return on the last line.
Fixed the bug causing DoorMan to give users back all their time after
they had actually deposited all their time in the TimeBank (Wildcat
3.x Only)
Fixed the bug causing DoorMan to not detect ANSI properly when
using the DORINFO#.DEF drop file. Certain programs are writing a
2 for ANSI instead of the standard 0 or 1.
Fixed a LOT of "strange" bugs that were occuring. Stuff like random
"String Space Corrupt" errors and such. The problem was that the door
was compiled with QB4.5 and too large. DoorMenu is now compiled with
PDS 7.1 which doesn't have the limitation that QB does.
Fixed the bug causing DoorMan not to work correctly with Spitfire.
Fixed a bug I adding which would cause DoorMan to not allow more
than one user into a door at once no matter what Check Use was set to.
I know I fixed some more stuff along the way, but I don't remember
exactely what right now, mostly minor stuff I'm sure. I really
should start writing this doc as I do the changes :)
==========================================================================
Up Next!
Support for "Sub-Categories" within each category. The net effect will be an
unlimited number of doors supported! This may or may not happen, not sure yet?
Any need for it?
User definable utilities in DoorEdit. Instead of a shell to dos, why not have a
place to put say, Norton Commander? Just hit a key and boom you're in Norton
Commander, or TheDraw, or any other utility you care to use.
Support for more nodes. The current limit is 9, I have a way to increase this
to at least 36, but don't know if there's a need. If you need it, let me know!
More menu styles! If you've got one you like, send me an ANSI screen and I'll
get it in there! The only real limitations are that the screen can be no more
than 20 lines long (need 3 lines at the bottom to display the commands plus 2
lines for the status bar) and that the area for the choices be a box at least 73
characters wide and 16 lines. This is not including the area for the Title.
This is just the space where the doors or categories will be inserted. Other
than that, anything goes!
Anything else you would care to suggest!!!
!!! Attention Wildcat Sysops !!!
Since over 50% of the registered users of DoorMan are
running Wildcat 3.xx, a Wildcat Specific version of DoorMan
is in the works! It will have some extra features specific
to Wildcat 3. The complete list of features hasn't been
decide yet so get your requests in soon! The biggy for now
is the ability to use your Security Profile names instead of
numbers. You would simply be presented with the list of
names and asked to choose which levels have access to each
door.
